Every gardener is terrified to leave their garden in the peak of the growing season and I am no different, considering I have a short growing season with limited 6 hours of sun in my growing spaces. That leaves no room for errors or for the opportunity to start again from seed. It usually means waiting for the next growing season in my case !!
My domestic help will be coming in to water my garden while we are away for a week. I am using disposable water bottles with the base cut out and placed inverted in my grow bags as a method to monitor quantity of watering per container, placing 1, 2 or 3 bottles per container as per the plant requirement. This method will also avoid damage to the newly emerging seedlings due to incorrect watering technique which is a possibility when a new person comes in to water.
Hopefully this idea will help keep my garden alive while we are away.
I would like to thank Terry King , from whose channel I have borrowed this idea of watering and using it to water my plants efficiently in absentia . Link to Terry’s channel is
