Wind power does not have many flaws but one that is commonly stated as a reason not to install a turbine is the amount of noise that is generated. Though most turbines produce a nominal level of noise, it has been an obstacle when trying to bring wind energy into a community. The EcoVert’s vertical axis design practically eliminates all noise due to the direction its blades turn. I’m standing right below an EcoVert and let’s take a listen. Pretty quiet. Let’s see if we can hear this penny fall. The turbine’s rated decimal levels are roughly 50dba running at common wind speeds. How quiet is that? It’s comparable to a library. A running refrigerator runs at 40 dba. It’s so quiet that there is now no excuse to harness wind power for your business or nonprofit.
